Question by Chloe R: what is the term for a sculpture in a painting?
I am looking for the term used to describe a sculpture painted into a painting. For example, Raphaels “School of Athens” has sculptures painted onto the walls of his school, as if the were real sculptures.

I feel inspired when you ask about the “School of Athens” and I need you know your are doing a great job trying to describe it because I believe it’s hard to describe some when it’s new.
The first techniques that arrived to mind are Gradation Blending, and Perspective. When I think of terms, like in, “the text book,” I think of the elements * and principles of art like
form, shape, * and rhythm when looking at the “School of Athens.”
